Born into music, Shortee steadily mastered all manners of percussion instruments, from drums to xylophones, beginning her learning journey at age seven. With an insatiable appetite for musical prowess, Shortee devoured all instrumental challenges placed before her. Her turning point, though, came when she became enamored with a burgeoning local DJ named Malice (later rechristened as DJ Faust).
"After blowing minds and destroying the competion at the 1997 Fever/Buzz Battle of the DJs, Shortee has grown from obsurity to acclaim," URB MAGAZINE. With a little less than year and a of half of dj experience under her belt, she is the first female to ever win this title in what is the biggest techno/house/jungle competition in the United States.
Shortee affiliates herself with two crews(in which she also co-founded): The techno-centric Space Kadets Collective, through which she has released numerous hard house mixtapes and performed at countless shows, and the hip-hop conglomerate The Citizenz. Today she stands poised as perhaps the best, most musical DJ you’ve never heard. She’s about to knock the "n" off that never, though.
