Elvis Stanic Group feat. Oliver Dragojevic

Friday, 6.7.2012. 21:00The Open Air Summer Stage, Opatija

Elvis Stanic Group feat. Oliver DragojevicAn unexpected collision of two prominent representatives of two worlds - jazz and pop, is bringing something apparently incompatible - Oliver’s music and Elvis Stanic’ jazz arrangements .

Elvis Stanić is the best Croatian contemporary jazz fusion guitarist, multiinstrumentalist and the most awarded Croatian jazz composer. He is the leader of the «Elvis Stanić Group», a jazz fusion band which connects mediteranean fluidness with fiercing latin rhythm and contemporary jazz sound. The band performes original music, with starting point in modern electric jazz, expanding it to the edge of traditional, latin or even the New Age music frontiers. As a composer, Elvis Stanić explores a Traditional Croatian music, connecting it with diverse world traditions, thus creating a new and yet unheard genre. He is the one of the leading World jazz mucisians in Croatia.

Although he has often been perceived as a representative of typical Dalmatian chanson, during more than 45 years of his extremely rich and successful career, Oliver Dragojevic has shown that behind his everlasting success hides the perfect shape of several musical idioms that Oliver combines into a homogeneous and distinctive musical expression by a filigree precise “secret skills” . Perhaps he ‘d be best described as a 'Mediterranean-Dalmatian” version of' Tony Bennett, Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin, with unavoidable influences of Stevie Wonder, Paul Anka, Ray Charles and Tom Jones.
